Types of Operating system based on Number of Users

Types of Operating system based on number of user:

                                                                                         The operating system can be classified on the basis of the number of user they can manage at a time. The classification of operating system is as follows:

   Single user operating system:

                                                                    Single user operating system is a types of operating system that allows only one user to user to use the computer at a time. The single user operating system can be divided into two types.

Single user single Tasking:

    

                                                               An operating system that allows only one user to perform one task at a time on the computer is called single user multi-tasking operating system. For examples the user can write text in word processor listen to the music and download a file from the Internet at the same time.

Single user multi-tasking:

                        

                                                            An operating system that allows one user  to perform multiple tasks at a time on the computer is called single user multi-tasking operating system. For example the user can write text word processor listen to the music and download a file from the internet at the same time.

 Multi-user operating system:

                                                                   An operating system that allows multiple users to use the to use same computer at a time is called multi- user operating system. it allows multiple users to use computer resources at the same time. It manages the tasks of  all the users efficiently. It also makes to user dose not affect the tasks of all the other user.

Types of operating system based on processing:

                                                                         Different types of operating system apply different processing on the tasks. The operating system can be classified on the based of their processing as follows:

• Batch processing
• Time sharing processing

Batch processing:

   

                              Batch processing operating system exactas a series of similar jobs without user interaction. A set of similar jobs is known as batch. The operating system uses batch processing to process a large number of as a batch. 

  Time sharing processing:

                                             Time sharing processing operating system executes multiple process at the same time by sharing CPU time among them.
