Video Adapters

Video Adapters:

The video adapter is a circuit that board that determines the graphics capabilities of the computer such as:

  • Screen resolutions available
  • The number of bits used to store color information about each pixel called bits depth
  • The total number of colors that can be used to display images
  • Number of monitors that can be used be connected to the computer
  • Types of connected that can be used to connect a monitor to the computer

Most video cards also have memory chips known as video RAM or VGAM. It is used to support graphics display. A sufficient amount of video RAM is required to support higher resolutions higher bit depth and a greater number of colors.

                   Types of Display Devices:

Different types of display devices are as follows:

                Cathode Rey Tube:

CRT monitor is an older types of monitor. This monitor uses a cathode Rey tube (CRT) CRT tube creates an images on the screen using a beam of electrons. CRT consists of one or more guns that fire a beam of electrons inside the screen. CRT in colors monitors consists of three guns generate red green and blue RGB colors The other colors are generated with a combination of these three color.

                   Flat panel Display:

Flat panel displays use electronically charged chemicals or gases between thin panes of glass or other transparent material to form images. flat- panel display are available in a variety of size.

               Flat panel Display Technologies:

Different technologies used in flat panel displays are as follows':

                  Liquid crystal display:

A liquid crystal display used charged liquid crystals between two sheets of material such as glass or plastic to light up the appropriate pixels to form the images on the screen.

                Light Emitting Diode:

A display that uses LED for the backlight is called an LED display.
