Optical Readers
optical Readers:
Optical readers is a devices that uses a light source to read characters marks and codes. it then converts them into digital can be processed by computer. There are different types of types of optical readers are available. The common types of readers are as follow:
Optical Character Recognition:
Optical character recognition is a technology that reads types written computer printed or handwritten character form ordinary documents. it translates the images into a form that can be recognized by computer
.
OCR devices read printed character using an OCR font. Most commonly used OCR font is called OCR-A .An OCR device determines the shapes of character software computer these patterns of light and dark. OCR software computer these shapes with predefined shapes stored in memory and converted the shapes into character.
Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) :
OMR stands optical mark recognition. it is also called mark sensing devices. These devices use light beam to read data, the data into digital signals. The signals are than sent to the computer for further processing.
The students answers the question by filling the circles. The OMR devices reads the answers sheet and evaluates.
Barcode Readers :
Barcode readers is also called barcode scanner. bar code scanner uses a laser beam to read bar code and translate them into digital signals. Barcode consists of vertical lines and shapes of different width. The bar code represents data that identifies the manufacturer and the item.
A common 2D barcode QR (Quick Response) code Resents data with a matrix small square. Most 2D barcode today are designed to be used by consumers with mobile phones. For example with a mobile phone camera. The QR decoding software installed on the phone will open the browser and load the web related to the QR barcode.
